YOUR INFORMATION & YOUR CHOICES
Privacy & business listing information
Updated . This notice covers Plumber Shortlist at plumbershortlist.co.uk.
Who is responsible?
The controller is Plumber Shortlist, a sole-trader business operated by Anthony. Contact contact@plumbershortlist.co.uk about your information or a business listing. You do not need an account, a paid profile or a particular form to exercise your rights. The directory does not provide plumbing work or receive the content of calls you make to listed businesses.
Basic unclaimed listings: what we use and where it comes from
We collect limited business information from publicly accessible business websites and, where relevant, official business or professional registers and linked directory sources. A profile links to its sources and gives check dates. Information can include a trading name, business enquiry telephone number, business website, town or general base, advertised services and coverage, and dated factual registration or listing-status information. Details relating to a sole trader or named person may be personal information even when published for business purposes.
Basic profiles are written as factual summaries. They do not mean the business has joined, endorsed the directory, supplied its media or passed our separate full evidence review. We do not publish private screening documents, customer complaints, home addresses or precise business coordinates as part of these basic profiles. Public search maps show service areas or town centres, not a customer's exact address. We do not copy other directories' reviews or publish invented scores.
Why we use information
- Basic research and listings: our legitimate interests in maintaining an accurate local directory, helping people find relevant services, and making the evidence and limits clear. We assess necessity, reasonable business expectations and the effect on individuals. Public availability alone does not establish a lawful basis.
- Profile applications: steps requested before entering an agreement and administering an agreed profile, where applicable. Legitimate interests support authority, accuracy and safety checks. Permission to publish photographs or videos is recorded separately; it is not permission to reuse every item on a website.
- Questions, reports and rights requests: legitimate interests in responding, maintaining accuracy and handling concerns, and legal obligations where applicable.
- Optional profile usage counts: your permission through the footer control. Turning it off stops future optional counting from this browser.
We do not sell customer enquiries or automatically make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects. Search ordering and screening status are discovery information; a customer chooses who to contact.
Correct, claim or remove a listing
Email contact@plumbershortlist.co.uk with the profile link and what needs changing. Each business profile provides direct email links for corrections and removal requests. To claim or develop a profile, you may use the provider portal or contact us. We check authority proportionately before changing a business's details; do not send identity documents unless a specific need is explained.
Where legitimate interests is used, an individual can object to processing on grounds relating to their situation. You can also request access, correction, erasure or restriction, where applicable, and complain to the ICO. Some rights depend on the reason for processing. We normally respond to a valid rights request within one month; where the law permits an extension, we explain why. A minimal suppression record may be retained to prevent a removed listing being re-imported. A removal request does not automatically become a public complaint or a finding against the business.
Applications, documents and reports stay private
Provider applications and permitted uploads are held in the directory's separate database and file store. The submitting account and authorised owner can access private submissions; reviewed public fields and permitted media appear only after approval and publication. A representative's private email is not automatically a public enquiry contact.
The signed-in report system stores the account identifier, account email, selected business, factual report, case status and handling history. A reporter can see their own reports; the owner can review private handling notes. Reports are not public reviews or automatically forwarded to businesses. Email is an alternative for privacy and listing requests without sign-in. Keep customer addresses, payment-card details, unnecessary health details and unrelated identity information out of messages and applications. We do not ask for customer medical records.
Recipients and external services
Public listing fields can be seen by visitors and search engines worldwide. Private records are available only to authorised accounts and the owner, and to providers needed to run hosting, authentication, storage and email. The website uses OpenAI/Sites and Cloudflare infrastructure; business email uses Microsoft 365 through GoDaddy. These providers may process service or security information, including outside the UK, under their own service and privacy arrangements. Contact us for information about the providers and transfer safeguards relevant to your information. Information may also be disclosed when legally required or necessary to handle a particular claim; we limit it to what is needed.
Entering a full postcode sends it to Postcodes.io for lookup. Device location is requested only when you choose Use my location; coordinates are used in the current search and are not stored in our directory database. Map tiles are requested from OpenStreetMap services, which receive connection information such as your IP address and map area. Fonts are requested from Google Fonts. External business and review links connect to the chosen provider, whose own privacy notice applies.
Device storage and optional counts
Your shortlist is stored in this browser's local storage. It is not an account, booking or enquiry, and clearing site data removes it. Search choices may appear in the page URL and browser history. The permission setting for optional counts is also kept on this device. You can clear your saved choices in the shortlist or browser settings.
Only with permission, we store daily totals of profile opens and clicks on telephone, website and review links: listing ID, UTC day, event type and count. These event records contain no visitor ID, IP address, precise location, referrer or call content. Totals are kept for up to 18 months, with old rows removed when counting next runs. They do not establish a connected call, enquiry or job. Owner and signed-in live-provider self-visits are excluded, and browser privacy signals are respected. Ordinary hosting/security logs are separate from these totals.
Retention and changes
We keep public basic details while a listing remains relevant and its sources and screening remain current. Source and screening review dates are recorded; corrections, objections and closure information prompt another review. Supporting application records are kept while needed to administer the profile, evidence checks and legitimate follow-up, with retention reviewed rather than assumed indefinite. Report cases have owner review dates while open and after closure; closed personal content can be erased after review. These are review controls, not a promise that all records are deleted automatically on a fixed day. Minimal records may be needed for legal obligations, complaints or suppression. Contact us to ask about the retention decision for your information.
You may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office. Payment of the data-protection fee is not ICO approval of this website, a business listing or our screening. No ICO approval badge is used.
